Aviation Scholarships for High School Students & Professionals
There are countless aviation scholarships out there, and many of the links on our website could include several opportunities for many different categories.
Whether you’re an aviation professional looking to further your training, a student in high school looking for funding, or a college student who needs financial assistance to get the aviation education you need, these scholarships are a mix of several categories that you may qualify for.
Aviation Scholarships for Females
WAI – Women in Aviation International
Women in Aviation International provides up to three scholarship opportunities to active members of WAI. The WAI scholarship program features a variety of career pursuits to further members’ interests in aerospace engineering, aviation maintenance, flight training, helicopter ratings, dispatch, and professional development.
AWAM – Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance
The Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance doesn’t limit its scholarship opportunities to students and women. Scholarships are open to active aviation technicians, transitioning military, and people of any gender. Individuals who do apply for this scholarship need to be members of AWAM.
Aviation Pilot Scholarships
AOPA – Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association understands the need for airline pilots, air traffic controllers, technicians, and crewmembers. They offer a variety of funding opportunities that can be used for flight training expenses in pursuit of a professional pilot certificate or advanced rating. In 2019, AOPA funded away over $1 million in scholarships to high school students, teachers, and professionals in flight training.
Aviation Scholarships for Flight Training
NBAA – National Business Aviation Association
The National Business Aviation Association offers nearly $100,000 annually in cash as tuition reimbursement and training awards for working professionals in business aviation including commercial pilots, maintenance professionals, schedulers, dispatchers, flight attendants, and flight technicians.
Paramount – Paramount Business Jets
Paramount Business Jets strives to alleviate the financial burdens that aviation undergraduate students at a university, college, or flight training program face.
FAA – Federal Aviation Administration
The FAA’s website provides a list of aviation scholarships that students may qualify for.
EAA – Experimental Aircraft Association
The Experimental Aircraft Association encourages individuals who are pursuing flight school, a career in aviation, or a career in aviation-related STEM fields.
Aviation Maintenance Scholarships
AEA – Aircraft Electronics Association
AEA’s website provides a list of aviation scholarships that students seeking careers in the aircraft electronics and aviation maintenance industry can apply for. These scholarships are also available to technicians from AEA member companies.
Scholarship For Aspiring Aviation Technicians – Pat Napolitano Memorial Scholarship
The Pat Napolitano Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors and current college students to help them get the education they need in aircraft maintenance technology.
ATEC – Aviation Technical Education Council
ATEC’s website provides several aviation-related scholarships that students may apply for.
Aviation Scholarships for International Students
99s – The Ninety Nines Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarships

The Ninety Nines AE Memorial Scholarships are awarded to qualifying members through five different scholarships for flight training, aviation academics, technical training, emergency maneuver training, and females in aviation.
Flight Training: scholarship for individuals looking to complete an additional pilot certificate or rating, or pilot training course.
Aviation Academics: scholarship towards one year of a college degree in aviation or aerospace.
Technical Training: a scholarship to complete an aviation or aerospace technical training, or certification course.
Emergency Maneuver Training: a scholarship to provide emergency maneuver and spin training, in addition to an introduction in aerobatics.
Females in Aviation: scholarship specifically for women pilots in emerging economic countries to pursue a career in aviation benefitting their home country.

Aviation Management Scholarships

Avionics Maintenance and Technology: students study avionics systems as they learn about installation, integration, in-aircraft testing, and troubleshooting methods. Students in these training programs are eventually going to be competing for entry-level technician positions in the aviation industry.
Aviation Management: students are learning about the science of managing aviation industry operations and services. They’re likely training for professional administrative positions in the industry, where they’ll learn about the technical and managerial skills needed in the industry. Graduates will likely seek employment with commuter airlines and airports. Other employment opportunities could be with the federal and state government, aircraft manufacturers, flight simulator companies, and delivery companies (such as UPS or Fed-Ex).
Aviation Scholarships for Veterans
SMAT is authorized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to offer eligible veterans assistance. Students who qualify for financial assistance should contact the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to determine available VA benefits.
There are various aviation scholarship programs available to graduate students, college students, and professionals in flight.
Keep in mind that applying for and securing any scholarship money requires the persistence of the student. Any money received from these efforts must be reported to our business office so the student’s aid package can be adjusted accordingly if needed.
